Anger and Your Mental Health – Cultural Barriers

Mar 17 2018

For those of you growing up in Vancouver as an Asian male with parents who have difficulty talking about emotions and mental health are common. Instead, sometimes they turn to anger as a method of conflict resolution and push any difficult discussions aside. Does this sound familiar?

Regardless of culture, this can be a common theme for many households.

Join Author and Speaker Jason Lee at 4:15pm at the free “Art and Mindfulness Event” where he will be the Keynote Speaker on the topic of “Anger and Your Mental Health.” His presentation will be on the Mezzanine Level, Simon Fraser University Surrey Campus

250-13450 102 Avenue, Surrey, B.C.

His presentation digs deep into why certain cultures men find it difficult to talk about mental health and what we can do to open up the topic. As an Asian male, he breaks all stereotypes and barriers by openly sharing about his stories and connects with his audience to reshape how we view anger and mental health. He’ll also include a reading from his book “Living with the Dragon – Healing 15 000 Days of Abuse and Shame.”

Relatable from lived experiences, it’s a free 20 minute presentation you won’t want to miss!

Jason Lee has been featured in the Coquitlam Tricity News and has conducted a number of workshops locally. In addition, he has spoken at Mental Health conferences across Canada, most recently in Ottawa at the Strength in Unity Summit. Also remember to visit and meet Jason at his booth after his presentation.
