Just say No to the Backup plan

You may find yourself slipping into a backup plan , it might feel perfectly reasonable. In fact , you might have been told since you were a child it’s a good idea to have a backup plan. But in fact research shows that having a backup plan makes you more likely to give up on your ambitious goals.

While it’s important to be realistic a and take small steps, don’t cheat yourself out of going for what you really want. Take a hard look at your goals . If you’re thinking on giving up on a goal , ask youreslf if it’s because the goal truly doesn’t fit into what you want for yourself , or if you just feel like it would be the safer choice to try something a bit easier.

If it’s the latter, think about why you wanted to achievethis goal in the first place. Mindfulness can be a powerfultool for helping us achieve our goals. If you’re feeling this way , wake up !

While it would be great if we could simply choose a goal and continually make progress towards it, that’s not how long term success is found. Things usually don’t move in a straight line . You might make a lot of progress one week and the next. That’s dooable ! Allow your progress to be a little messy.

The concept of speed to implementation is how fast we can apply or act on an idea. The best time to start acting on your new goals is Right Now . It’s easy to get caught up in trying to make everything perfect before we even start our resolutions.

If we want to start a new diet at the end of the week , we tell ourselves we’ll start food shopping next Monday to adjust for it. Or if it’s raining mid week we put off our new biking plan for next week and so on . Stop adjusting the process and just do it. It’s tax season Guys so lets start with filing early this year ! You are on your way to ending the backup plan.
