For the last 28 years members of the Vancouver Film Industry have been hosting a Christmas Dinner in the park. 2016 was the first year of our change from a December date, due to an abundance of Christmas dinners served in December, to a January date, when there are no dinners served, and it was a huge success.
In keeping with our new tradition, we will be serving up Bar-B-Q’d burgers and hotdogs with all the fixings, along with salads, desserts and hot beverages. All this in a carnival themed afternoon of food, balloons and entertainment for family celebration. We also distribute toiletries, socks, mittens and treats to the residents of the DTES. This is the Film Community’s way to thank the residents for letting us into their neighbourhood for our work.
We would like to keep this a Film Industry initiative and require many more Union volunteers. Last year we served almost 3,500 lunches and we could really use your help.
